Community Resources

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo is far more than a neighborhood — it is a living testament to the strength, spirit, and enduring legacy of Japanese Americans in the United States. Founded in 1885, Little Tokyo is now 140 years old, the second oldest neighborhood in Los Angeles, and one of only three remaining official Japantowns left in the entire nation.

Little Tokyo is a 150-acre living cultural district that blends deep historical roots with a vibrant, modern energy. From world-class museums and Buddhist temples to contemporary art spaces, ramen shops, anime boutiques, and community festivals — this neighborhood offers an experience unlike anywhere else in the United States.

Little Tokyo is also a multi-ethnic community — home to Japanese Americans, Latino, African American, and other diverse communities who have built and sustained this neighborhood together across generations.

AVA Little Tokyo is Located at 236 S Los Angeles Street, it is a premier residential community built right in the center of one of LA’s most iconic neighborhoods. Developed by AvalonBay Communities, AVA Little Tokyo offers modern urban living with a personality as bold and unique as the neighborhood itself.
